The Northland Beckons: Writing in Haiku
Free, ages 10 and up
Writers will learn the structure and form of haiku, its origins in Japanese literature, and how Sandra Hisakuni connects this writing practice to Minnesota’s Northwoods. The workshop will introduce haiku as a powerful tool for mindfulness, joyful reflection, and playful expression. Participants gain an opportunity to learn a distinct poetic form and connect with the natural world. Writers will use words and art to create their own haiku masterpiece to take home.
The Northland Beckons: Writing in Haiku is sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System and was funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund (ACHF).
