Friends
A Great Library Has Stories. We Help Support Them.
We support strong, vibrant library services by partnering with the Grand Marais Public Library and school
libraries across Cook County.
Through fundraising, advocacy, public awareness, and volunteer efforts, we help expand what our libraries
can offer our community.
Helping Libraries Do More
Library Friends provides grants and support that help bring programs, resources, and learning opportunities to people throughout Cook County.
Our support helps fund library programs and community events, along with resources and technology that expand what our libraries can offer.
Library Friends makes annual grants available to:
- Grand Marais Public Library
- ISD 166 Public Schools Library
- Birch Grove Charter School
- Great Expectations Charter School
- Oshki Ogimaag Charter School
Help Keep the Stories Going
Great libraries do not happen by themselves. Community support helps them stay vibrant, welcoming, and well-resourced.
You can be part of that work.
Join Library Friends
Become a member and help strengthen library services across Cook County. Membership fees and donations are tax-deductible, and 100% of your gifts go to support our community libraries.
Donate
Your contribution helps fund grants, programs, and resources that make a difference in our libraries.
Volunteer
Share your time and talents. Volunteers help with library events, special projects, promotions, grant writing,
membership support, and the Library Friends Board. If you’d like to help send us an email.
Volunteer at two local thrift stores
Every hour you volunteer at either Oddz & Endz or First & Second Thrift Store can result in a wonderful annual donation to the Library Friends. This is our biggest way to locally donate and a fun way to help contribute to local libraries. Email us for more information.
About Library Friends
Library Friends of Cook County is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting strong library services throughout our community.
We work with the Grand Marais Public Library Board and with public and school library staff to identify opportunities where additional funding, advocacy, and volunteer support can make a difference.
Our work is made possible by members, donors, volunteers, and community partners who believe libraries are an important part of life in Cook County.
